SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

RSSI is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 scholarship awards.

The James R. Higginbottom scholarship award winner is Cole Davis. Cole’s father, Marion D. Davis, III, is employed by The Okonite Company.

The Ronald L. McDaniel Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Cooper Singer. Cooper’s father, Erik Singer, is employed byWilmore Electronics Co., Inc.

The scholarships are worth $12,000 payable in eight $1,500 payments before each semester. The recipients must be enrolled in an accredited North American institution of higher learning and maintain a 3.0 GPA based on a 4.0 scale. There were 36 qualified applications received this year and all were outstanding students deserving of the scholarship award. The applications are judged by three independent judges in ten categories including: academics, leadership, goals, essay and letters of recommendation.

The judges scores are tabulated and the overall top scoring applicants are reviewed and approved by the RSSI Scholarship Committee.

The RSSI 2025 James R. Higginbottom Scholarship

Cole Davis

The winner of the RSSI 2025 James R. Higginbottom Scholarship is Cole Davis.  Cole graduated top of his class from Bamberg Ehrhardt High School in Bamberg, SC with a GPA of 5.413 and an SAT score of 1470.  Along with excelling in his rigorous academics, Cole was very active in the athletics program where he earned Regional Champion in Cross Country and All-State and Regional Champion in Track and Field in addition to playing basketball and soccer. Cole will be attending the University of South Carolina where he will major in Biomedical Engineering. Cole looks to pursue a career in the development of lower cost, more accessible prosthetics and orthotics. His goal is to design products that are more advanced and have lower recovery time than the technology used today.    

Cole’s father, Marion D. Davis, III, is employed by The Okonite Company.

The RSSI 2025 Ronald L. McDaniel Scholarship

Cooper Singer

The winner of the RSSI 2024 Ronald L. McDaniel Memorial Scholarship is Cooper Singer.  Cooper graduated from Westchester Country Day School in High Point, NC where she was a stand-out student graduating with a 4.0 GPA and an SAT score of 1430 and an ACT score of 34. Cooper will be attending North Carolina State University where she will be studying Graphic and Experience Design with the goal of designing and building user interfaces for a wide variety of industries. She hopes to contribute to the betterment of society by bringing beauty, design, and technology together for a better consumer experience. Cooper is an avid LEGO builder who combines that with her love of flowers and is now a collector of LEGO Botanical sets. In addition to her natural creative side, she also enjoys dad jokes and all things music. 

Cooper’s father, Erik Singer, is employed by Wilmore Electronics Co., Inc.
