Looking Back On Indianapolis.

On September 17, 18, and 19, RSSI once again joined REMSA and RSI in welcoming over 8100 attendees to the Railway Interchange exhibits. Building on the success of 2011, 2013, and 2015 the Railway Interchange 2017 edition included over 600 exhibitors showcasing their products and services.

The AREMA Conference and the exhibits were well attended by the over 770 rail employees from 90 different rail and transit companies.

The AREMA General Assembly keynote speaker Ken Schmidt, former director of communications for Harley-Davidson Motor Company, offered valuable insight to the turnaround of Harley Davidson from a struggling company in the 1980s to the motorcycle market leader of today.

Mr. Schmidt described the need to change the image of Harley-Davidson from a motorcycle gang perception to a family lifestyle image as the key to the turnaround. Once that image change was marketed the word of mouth of the customers of Harley-Davidson helped restore the company to its now number one position in motorcycle sales.

The three days of exhibits at RI2017 included meals served each day in the three food courts with a beer and wine reception each afternoon during exhibit hours.

The objective of Railway Interchange is to give our member companies an opportunity to exhibit their products to their key customers while reducing the amount of travel for both the rail managers and the suppliers by not having to attend multiple annual exhibitions.

The strong attendance by both exhibitors and customers is a sign that this objective is being achieved.

Railway Systems Suppliers, Inc. is a trade association serving the communication and signal segment of the rail transportation industry.
